Ultimately the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation’s goal is to ensure that an early detection test becomes as readily available and habitual as a pap smear or breast mammogram in every woman’s regular medical.
As there is currently no early detection test and a lack of symptoms in the early stages of disease, women are usually diagnosed in the late stages of the disease – when the cancer has spread to other organs in the body. Early screening is needed which can only be achieved through funded research.
In support of this research, Witchery has supported this cause since 2009 by running a campaign to create awareness and raise funding to put towards innovative ovarian cancer research, working to find the early detection that will save women’s lives. Witchery has raised over 10 million dollars to date through their White Shirt Campaign.
By purchasing one of 10 specially designed white shirts during the campaign—from which 100% of profits are donated to the cause—or hosting your own White Shirt Campaign event, you can make a difference in the lives of every woman who has been impacted by ovarian cancer.
The campaign has run from the 5th April to the 8th May which has been marked as White Shirt Day. On White Shirt Day wear your Witchery white shirt or purchase your white shirt to show solidarity with every Australian woman with or without the disease.
If you’re unable to host your own event, you can make a donation directly to help the campaign maintain momentum. To donate visit www.whiteshirtcampaign.com.au
Donate, host, or purchase a shirt during this year’s White Shirt Campaign to stand beside every woman who has been lost, every woman who has survived, and to better the outcome for every woman to come. Show your support by using your voice. Upload a photo of yourself in your white shirt, with your take on the caption, ‘I wear a white shirt because…’
